| Presentation: | The Geometry Group of the Centre for Mathematics of the University of Coimbra (CMUC) conducts research in several areas of modern geometry and its interactions with other fields of mathematics and mathematical physics. Its members work on differential geometry, Poisson and symplectic geometry, Lie and Courant algebroids, noncommutative geometry, low-dimensional topology, global analysis and related structures, with strong connections to representation theory, and dynamical systems. The group combines fundamental theoretical research with an interest in geometric structures arising in physics and applied mathematics. A particular emphasis is placed on the study of geometric and algebraic structures on manifolds, including Lie groupoids and Lie algebroids, generalised geometries, and their cohomological and homological invariants. The Geometry Group is actively involved in national and international research projects and maintains strong collaborations with research centres worldwide. It regularly organises seminars, workshops, and conferences, contributing to the dissemination of advanced geometric methods and to the training of graduate students and early-career researchers in a stimulating and collaborative scientific environment. |
