Description: |
In 1970, M. Gerstenhaber introduced in [1] a list of axioms defining Moore categories in
order to develop the Baer Extension Theory. The independence of the axioms is studied
and they are compared with more recent notions. Thus, a Moore category is a pointed,
strongly protomodular and Barr-exact category with cokernels. With Grp as a model,
the Baer sum of extensions is presented in a Moore category, without using all cokernels.
