In this talk I will investigate systems of parabolic PDEs in porous media, describing competitive adsorption phenomena in groundwater contaminant models. The system is degenerate and does not fall into the general class of models studied by Alt and Luckhaus, mainly due to the non-convex structure. We use instead some particular diagonal structure, and obtain existence, uniqueness, and Holder regularity of weak solutions. We also invesitgate the finite speed of propagation, giving rise to free boundaries. The behaviour of the individual species is different from the scalar case, and the supports may jump in time before complete clustering occurs. This is joint work with T. Kuusi (Aalto University) and J. Videman (CAMGSD-IST Lisbon)
