Schensted correspondence and Littelmann paths.
 
 
Description:  This is on joint work with J.A. Green and M. Schocker. The aim is to explain the Littelmann path model for $gl_n$. In this case, Littelmann's 'paths' become 'words'. This leads to the representation theory of the 'Littelmann algebra' which is a close analog of the Schur algebra.
