Description: |
The condition number of a square matrix measures the sensitivity of the solution
of a system of linear equations with that matrix - or of the inverse of the
matrix -
with respect to perturbations in the data. The ordinary condition number is
defined in terms of the spectral norm. Here we study condition numbers using
different norms in the space of matrices, and we investigate the cases where
perfect conditioning occurs. In this study we are led to an open question
concerning absolute norms.
