Variational models for image segmentation

Description:  In imaging science, texture and multiphase image segmentation are two problems of great interest. The importance of image segmentation models lies in looking for the best representation of an image into meaningful information by partitioning it into well distinguished regions containing some specific characteristic involving color, texture or intensity. This talk is focused on texture and multiphase models for image segmentation using variational methods and Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) techniques based on the well-known Chan and Vese model.
