Description Achieved
The use of electrical fields as enhancers is popular in drug delivery technologies, where iontophoresis and electroporation, or combination of both, are usual procedures. In this case, the release is characterized by several complex phenomena fromwhich we highlight the diffusion, the electromigration, the electro-osmosis, as well as the feedback of the target tissueand/or the polymeric drug reservoir. In this project we would like to establish mathematical models that describe thementioned release phenomena which are characterized by systems of integro-differential equations coupled with Poisson'sequations or Maxwell's equations. The analytical and numerical study of these systems is the main goal of this project aswell as the development of a software package that allows the numerical simulation of release phenomena in severalscenarios.
