We will start soon a learning seminar on G-structures (Geometric structures) at the Department of Mathematics:
In this weekly learning seminar, we will explore a very broad notion of "geometric structures" in the setting of differential geometry. The model example of a geometric structure in this sense
is provided by a Riemannian metric on a manifold.
Other examples are symplectic, complex and quaternionic structures. These structures are studied in terms of their appropriate symmetries and adapted frames (for example, isometries and orthonormal frames, in the case of Riemannian metrics).
If time permits, we will discuss differential operators on geometric structures and other applications (which will depend on the audience).
