We propose a computable and not-necessarily convex polygon as the best possible (outer) boundary for the region in which the determinant of the sum of normal matrices of given spectra can be located and give evidence for the validity of the conjecture. This strengthens the conjecture of Marcus and de Oliveira, according to which the determinant should always be located in the convex hull of the sigma-points.
