Combinatorial Brill-Noether theory

Description:  The theory of linear systems on graphs is a recent branch of combinatorics owing its fast development to a link with algebraic and tropical geometry. We will review the general theory leading up to the Brill-Noether theorem, whose purely combinatorial proof is an open problem.
