Fickian diffusion versus non Fickian diffusion in porous media

Description:  Traditionally, diffusion process in porous media are described by convection-diffusion-reaction equations established using Fick's law for the mass flux. Such equations give accurate results in laboratory environment for perfectly homogeneous media. Nevertheless when nonhomogeneous media are considered, deviations of the Fickian behavior are observed. In this case the main sources for such deviations are the small-scale and large-scale heterogeneities. In order to circumvent the pathologic behavior of the convection-diffusion-reaction non Fickian approaches were proposed.
In this talk we study, from theoretical and numerical point of view, non Fickian models for diffusion processes in porous media.
