On orthogonal polynomials and their applications

Description:  In this talk we will give an overview of the theory of orthogonal polynomials (OP), focusing on the so-called inverse problems. The problems to be considered arise in the framework of Sobolev OP and the theory of polynomial mappings. We will point out several applications, including connections with the so-called sieved OP (on the real line and on the unit circle), the spectral theory of Jacobi operators, and approximation theory, among others.
