In 1623 Galileo wrote a beautiful book entitled “Il Saggiatore" in which appeared his famous statement that mathematics is the language of science. He claimed that to understand the Universe it is necessary to understand the language in which it is written, and it is written in the mathematical language. In fact, in this book Galileo described the scientific method for the first time, which is a combination of the observation of the Nature (experiments) and the explanation by using a mathematical model (mathematics). The effectiveness of Mathematics for describing the world that surround us has generated interesting discussions among which the Einstein's essay "Geometry and Experience" (1931) and Wigner's essay "The Unreasonable Effectiveness of Mathematics in the Natural Sciences" (1960) stand out. In this talk, that is of introductory character, we will show how Mathematics and Physics are in fact the two sides of the same coin. We will start recalling an old problem of Mathematical-Physics and then we will discuss some very recent results that we obtained in the last years during our collaborations with theoretical and experimental physicists in order to solve some phenomena observed in different experiments.
