The Portuguese team won a silver medal, two bronze medals, and two honourable mentions at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO2025), the largest international mathematics competition. In its 37th participation, Portugal managed to climb the table compared to its previous participations, ranking 52nd among the 110 countries participating in this edition. The IMO 2025 took place between July 10 and July 20, 2025, on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.

In this extremely demanding competition, the Portuguese team consisted of Henri Campagnolo (12th grade), Miguel Sousa Domingos (12th grade), Pedro Miguel Santos Silva (12th grade), Rafael Soares Marques (10th grade), Tomás Faria (12th grade), and Tomás Prata Vidal (11th grade), as well as team leader Joana Teles (professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Coimbra) and deputy leader Nuno Arala (postdoc researcher at Leibniz University Hannover).

Portugal's participation in these competitions is organised by the Portuguese Mathematical Society, and the selection and preparation of students is the responsibility of the Delfos School, a project of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Coimbra and CMUC.
