There will be an introductory mini-course on the theory of viscosity solutions, to be held at the Department of Mathematics, next July. Sessions will occur on July 5, 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, in Room 2.2.

The basic reference for the mini-course is the set of lecture notes by Shigeaki Koike (which can be found here). Attendees are welcome to propose follow-up topics; these may include, but are by no means limited to the following:

1- The connection between viscosity solutions and numerical methods (mostly based on this article);

2- The connection between viscosity solutions and differential geometry, with emphasis on the Brakke flow (mostly based on this article by Lawrence C. Evans and Joel Spruck and this recent book by Yoshi Tonegawa);

3- The use of viscosity solutions in the realm of semi-supervised learning (our humble suggestion is this work of Jeff Calder).
